Stuff for Parents FAQ!
We welcome anyone to our site as long as their interest is focused on understanding girls health and seeking or giving advice to help girls and the people that care about them.
That means we welcome your daughters as well. While we invite girls to be part of certain conversations, we recognize that their privacy and protection is paramount. We will take every precaution to keep them safe while on this site!
Our Parents' FAQ
1. Does my child need my permission to use this site?
If your daughter is under 13 years of age, we require parental consent as per the 1998 Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This means, that at time of registration, the user will be prompted with a disclaimer to notify her parents and get permission. If your daughter is over 13, we do not require permission, but we continue to recommend that you monitor your child's use of the internet.
2. Will my daughter be able to talk with strangers on this site?
We have several ways in which adult members of this site can communicate and discuss sensitive subjects with one another and with our Girlologists. While these two-way conversations can be beneficial, we do not allow our children to participate in this dialogue. For their protection, they are not allowed to join discussions, groups with two-way chat options, or any other kind of feature that allows them to be in harms way. They are allowed to post questions, and only our Girlologists will be able to provide answers to them.
3. Why does Girlology allow daughters to join a site like this?
This can be a challenging time in any young girl's life. We have developed many resources, books, and activities to help them understand themselves and their changing bodies. By having girls join our community, we can continue to improve our delivery methods and help each girl navigate a healthy adolescence.
