Stuff About Me!
Dr. Bingham was born in New York, but has spent the majority of her life living in the South. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and a Masters in Public Health from Emory University. She attended medical school at Louisiana State University, then completed her residency in Ob-Gyn at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC.
Dawn has been involved in Sexual Health Education since the age of 19, when she worked for the Sexual Health Hotline at UNC-Chapel Hill. She subsequently interned with the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the U.S. Her experiences as a peer educator were especially rewarding because she saw how knowledge and accurate information empowered people to have essential conversations about intimate topics on health and sexuality. She continued her work in sexuality education during her time at Emory University when she contributed research and content to the highly regarded manual by Dr. Robert Hatcher, entitled Contraceptive Technology. Dr. Bingham’s experience as an Ob-Gyn and her work in Sexuality Education make her a perfect Girlologist.
Dawn lives in Spartanburg, SC with her huband, Marc, and their four children. Her family enjoys swimming, whitewater rafting and traveling with their dogs Folly and Scarlett. Dawn is also an active volunteer with the SC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, her children’s school, local swim leagues, and First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg.
